Abstract of the Paper Presented:

Given the critical importance of achieving both green innovation and profitability, this study examines the extent to which green innovation is compatible with financial performance in Indian manufacturing firms. Drawing on an unbalanced panel of 315 listed manufacturers spanning 2016 to 2024, the analysis develops firm-level metrics encompassing eco-efficiency (energy and material intensity), product and organizational innovation (R&D and training intensity), environmental management systems (ISO 14001 and ISO 50001), and profitability indicators (ROA and operating margin). Using fixed-effects regression models with clustered standard errors, the study examines within-firm temporal variation in these variables to elucidate the relationship between green innovation initiatives and profitability in the Indian manufacturing sector.
