The Department of Mathematics cordially invites you for an invited talk by Prof. S. K. Jain, Distinguished Emeritus Professor, Ohio University, USA  at 4.00 PM in Room no. 5101 (LTC). 
 
Title:  Regular Rings and Separativity Problem for PI, PM, GPI, Self-Pseudo Injective, and C * Algebras


Profile of the Speaker: Distinguished Emeritus Professor S. K. Jain has served the Department of Mathematics, Ohio University, USA since 1970. He took his Ph.D. from the University of Delhi. Prof. Jain has held visiting professor appointments at several institutions worldwide. His visiting positions include the Riverside, Santa Barbara and Berkeley campuses of the University of California, the Ohio State University in Columbus, North Carolina State University in Raleigh, University of Chicago, McMaster University in Hamilton and University of Frankfurt, as well as the Indian Statistical Institute, and the Indian Institute of Technology, and King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah.  His area of expertise includes Noncommutative Rings, Modules, and Applied Linear Algebra. Prof. Jain has published over 145 research papers.  He was the director of the Centre of Ring Theory and its Applications during 2001-2009.

Professor Jain is a recipient of many prestigious grants including the Senior Scientist Fulbright Award, the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) and US-India Scientific Exchange grants by the National Science Foundation. He is also the recipient of a United Nations Development Project Grant, and of a conference grant from the National Security Agency. He has been awarded the Outstanding Graduate Faculty Award, 1999 at Ohio University.

He is an Executive Editor of the Journal of Algebra and its Applications, World Scientific Press, and that of the Bulletin of Mathematical Sciences, World Scientific Publishing company. He is also serving on the editorial board of Electronic Journal of Algebra. He has supervised 24 Ph.D. dissertations in Noncommutative Rings, Modules, and Applied Linear Algebra.
