Dear Sir/Madam,

Greetings from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS)!
The Food and Agriculture Department (FAD) of BIS is pleased to invite your esteemed organization to a one-day technical seminar on “R&D-Driven Indian Standards for Vitamin Analysis in Diverse Food Matrices” scheduled on 18 December 2025 at Manak Bhawan, BIS Headquarters, New Delhi.

About the Seminar
Vitamins are fundamental to human health, influencing metabolism, immunity, cognitive development, and overall nutritional balance. As the food sector advances, accurate and reliable vitamin analysis has become essential for ensuring public health, verifying nutritional claims, and supporting fortification programmes. High-quality, validated analytical methods serve as a critical foundation for these objectives. To strengthen national capability in this domain, the Test Methods for Food Products Sectional Committee, FAD 28, has recently completed a significant BIS-funded collaborative R&D project on “Validation of Published Test Methods of Vitamins in Identified Food Matrices for Revision of Indian Standards".
This initiative undertaken with CFTRI, Mysuru and five participating laboratories has led to the revision of four Indian Standards and development of one new Indian Standard listed below:
  • IS 9840:2025 – Determination of Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid) by UHPLC-MS/MS
  • IS 7234:2025 – Determination of Vitamin B9 (Folates) by UHPLC-MS/MS
  • IS 7529:2025 – Determination of Vitamin B12 by HPLC-UV
  • IS 5835:2025 – Determination of Vitamin D in Fortified Vegetable Oils by UHPLC-MS/MS
  • IS 19308:2025 – Determination of Vitamin B12 by LC-MS/MS
Programme Highlights
  • Presentation on the R&D project: objectives, methodology, and outcomes.
  • Detailed technical sessions on the newly published Indian Standards.
  • Discussion on analytical principles, procedural requirements, and performance characteristics.
  • Interactive Q&A and feedback session with domain experts.
