IPC Notice
Dear all,
At IPC, we strive hard to keep the IT Infrastructure and services up and running on round the clock basis . To know the details of facilities available and services offered by the IPC team, please visit the IPC web site https://www.bits-pilani.ac.in/pilani/ipc/Home . Some of the important services offered are listed below
1. iCMS is an inhouse developed Complaint Management System. The system allows users to register IT related complaint at the iCMS Portal https://icms.bits-pilani.ac.in
The users can login to the portal using their Official BITS e-mail Id to register the complaint. Once the complaint is registered , IPC technical staff would attend the call and make an effort to resolve the issues.
2. Computing Facilities Access : IPC Website at https://www.bits-pilani.ac.in/pilani/ipc/Home provides the details of the computing facility , services and ICT Infrastructure across the Pilani campus . To get access to the computing facilities, it is requested to contact the IPC Operators at 01596-255292 (Email : ipcoptr@pilani.bits-pilani.ac.in).
3. BITS Notice boards: BITS Notice Board portal has been deployed at (https://onboard.bits-pilani.ac.in/ ). All BITS Notices specific to students, faculty and staff will be displayed here. The portal provides a mechanism for displaying department specific notices which can only be viewed by a person belonging to the department. Course Specific notices will still be available at LMS Portal (https://nalanda-aws.bits-pilani.ac.in/ )
4. Gmail Password policy: As per the latest policy of the Institute all the users should create a password for their official GMail accounts, as per the following guidelines;
· Passwords must not contain the user’s account name or parts of the user’s full name that exceed two consecutive characters
· Be at least eight characters in length
· Contain characters from at least three of the following four categories:
o English uppercase characters (A through Z)
o English lowercase characters (a through z)
o Base 10 digits (0 through 9)
o Non-alphabetic characters (for example, !, $, #, %)
· Be at least eight characters in length
· Contain characters from at least three of the following four categories:
o English uppercase characters (A through Z)
o English lowercase characters (a through z)
o Base 10 digits (0 through 9)
o Non-alphabetic characters (for example, !, $, #, %)

5. IT Policy :
This is to inform you all that use of unlicensed software is illegal and IP right violation of the owner . This has also been stated in the IT policy document of the institute (https://www.bits-pilani.ac.in/Uploads/B ... Policy.pdf ). The excerpts from the IT Policy document are given below.for your kind reference .
1. Users are not allowed to install personal software for use on BITS Pilani’s computer systems. Users are not allowed to download / install unauthorized / pirated software for use on BITS Pilani’s computer systems and their personal system when it is connected with BITS Pilani’s network.
2. Users shall not make unauthorized copies of copyrighted software and documents, except as permitted by law or by the owner of the copyright. Copyrighted materials belonging to the entities other than BITS Pilani may not, subject to the allowable exemptions, be transmitted by faculty, staff or students on BITS Pilani mail / internet system. Setting up a file sharing service (within LAN) which violates Intellectual property rights is not allowed. All users obtaining access to other companies’ or individuals’ materials must respect all copyrights and may not copy, retrieve, modify or forward copyrighted materials, except with permission of the copyright owner or as may be permitted under the appropriate law. Each user shall observe all terms and conditions of the license agreement, under which the license to use any copyrighted work has been obtained.
In case of any such violation ,the user shall solely be held responsible and liable for the offence arising out of unlawful use of copyrighted material / software.
