Impact of Generative AI on Teaching and Learning - An Interactive talk on Monday, 8th Jan '24, 3.00 PM

Dear Colleagues,

As you may be aware, Work Integrated Learning Programmes Division of BITS, Pilani has recently launched the "Center for Education Research and Innovation" (CERI) at its Hyderabad campus with the dual objective of enabling instructors to become better teachers and enabling students to become better learners.

The Centre aims to partner with faculty members to enhance the quality and effectiveness of teaching by adopting cutting edge pedagogies and evaluation methodologies, developing appropriate faculty development programs, organizing talks by academic and industry experts, and hosting periodic conferences and symposiums. In parallel, we have also set up an "AI for Education Innovation" lab with a view towards enabling the Center to leverage the latest technological developments in the area of Artificial Intelligence to enhance the practice of teaching and learning.

CERI will be organizing a series of monthly talks by internal and external experts on topics that are relevant to the objectives of the center and our AI lab.

In this context, we have organized the first such talk on "Impact of Generative AI on Teaching and Learning" on Monday, 8 January 2024 at 3.00 PM. This interactive talk will be delivered by Mr. Keshava Rangarajan, who is the Co-Founder and Chief Innovation Officer at Spanda AI, a US based AI company that is doing groundbreaking work in the application of AI to various domains including higher education. He will be delivering the talk from our Hyderabad campus TP Classroom.

The talk will explore how Generative AI and Large Language Models can be effectively leveraged to improve the practice of teaching and learning in such areas as AI powered teaching assistants, automated grading of essays and assignments, chat bots for guiding students, personalized learning systems, customized learning materials, adaptive learning systems, etc.

The talk will be followed by an interactive question and answer session.

We would request Hyderabad based faculty (both campus and off campus) to join us at F101 (TP Classroom), Hyderabad campus for this talk. Similarly faculty at Pilani, Dubai, and Goa campuses may join this talk from their respective TP Classrooms.
