Dear Sir/Madam,

As you may be aware that BIS is responsible for harmonious development of the activities of standardization, marking and quality certification of goods and for matters connected there with or incidental there to. BIS has been providing traceability and tangible benefits to the national economy in many ways – providing safe reliable quality goods; minimizing health hazards to consumers; promoting exports and imports substitute; control over proliferation of varieties etc. through standardization, certification and testing.

Bengaluru Branch Laboratory of BIS seeks to engage students (Diploma and Undergraduate) as "Interns" from BITS, who would be given exposure to the laboratory activity of BIS. The Interns would also be required to carry out regular testing of the various products received by BNBL under different BIS conformity assessment schemes. The document containing details of the internship scheme of BIS is enclosed for your reference. Students fulfilling the requirement of minimum 75% Marks or Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 7.5 out of 10 as on the last semester, whose result has been declared may only apply. Please note that no negative deviation w.r.t. fulfilling the academic criteria is permitted as per the scheme.   

This offer for internship is currently being extended to institutions which signed an MOU with BIS and  Birla Institute of Technology and Science, (BITS) Pilani  is one among them. Therefore, interested candidates may send their applications as per format prescribed in the Appendix B of the enclosed document. Also, a certificate from the university/ institute as per format prescribed in the Annexure-II of the internship scheme needs to be submitted. Please note that Bengaluru branch laboratory of BIS has test facilities in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical and Microbiological disciplines only. Therefore, internship applications from these/ related fields will be preferred.
