Brief Abstract: We live in the age of science and technology. How did they progressively become more important for societies, and indeed began to shape them? How did electronics emerge as a discipline? What drove the development of electronics and communication? What were the epochal inventions in the field of electronics that shaped this field? How has the modern world been shaped by electronics technologies? What lies ahead, or at least can be seen coming at this point of time? The talk addresses the above issues in a grand sweep, to provide a wider perspective on the field of electronics engineering
